We are very good at knowing God, or at least knowing “about” God, but we are not so good at being known by God. In fact, we are much better at “doing” anything than we are at “being” anything. Our lives revolve around doing and not being. We define who we are by what we do, but in all fairness, we don’t really know who we “are” as much as we know what we “do,” so it is easy to see why we view ourselves in that way. God is pursuing us. He wants to be known by us, but He wants also for us to allow ourselves to be known by Him.
